The Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza kicked off on Nov. 28 with more than 1 million lights synchronized to music arranged and performed by Macon Pops.
Luke Cox volunteered to help set up the lights and manage the event. Cox told 13WMAZ that he has grown up attending the event.
“It was just amazing to see the work that we put in and how it comes out for this, and it was an amazing experience overall,” Cox said.
Each show lasts 45 minutes and starts at the top of the hour from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The lights stay on until 11 p.m. The show will continue each night until Jan. 4.
The show started in 2017 and Visit Macon estimates the event contributes to $7.1 million in economic impact with more than 685,000 people visiting downtown Macon during the event in 2024.
