Wet weekend ahead for Georgia as fall burn ban ends

Georgia may have a very wet weekend coming up.

The National Weather Service says several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected from Friday through Monday, with the potential for heavy rains and isolated flooding across north Georgia.

It is unclear where the heaviest rainfall will occur, but the National Weather Service predicts localized amounts up to 3-4 inches, with the possibility of more than 5 inches of rain.

Flash flood watches and warnings may be issued, especially on Sunday.

Before the rains come in, it might be a good time to burn some yard debris. Because October has finally started, the Summer Open Burn Ban has also been lifted starting Oct. 1. Depending on the type of burn, you may need to request a permit from the Georgia Forestry Commission.
