CBS News Weekend Roundup is a weekly news show that airs on CBS News Radio, designed for a one-hour time slot (with an actual length without commercials of about 40 minutes) that reviews the previous week’s news and provides insights on possible future developments in the United States and the world. The broadcast has aired weekly on the network since 2000 and is produced Friday afternoons, airing on CBS News Radio affiliates on Saturdays and Sundays. The show includes interviews with CBS News radio and TV correspondents and various newsmakers, compilations of reports through the week that have aired on both CBS-TV and CBS News Radio, and an ad-free podcast has been available from CBS News since early 2006, first distributed Friday afternoon. The network’s then-news director Mike Freedman was the creator and first executive producer of the show, with Bill Lynch, former anchor of the CBS World News Roundup morning edition, as the first host. CBS News Weekend Roundup is based on the early 1938 CBS Radio format of reporters discussing the issues from different points of the world or nation—the same format that was the basis for the CBS World News Roundup, which airs mornings and evenings on the radio network.

Hosted by award-winning journalist Allison Keyes since 2019, the show features her as correspondent and host for CBS News Radio, bringing more than 25 years of experience as an award-winning multi-media journalist. Formerly a substitute host and National Desk reporter for NPR, Keyes has won more than 20 journalism awards from organizations ranging from the Newswomen’s Club of New York to the National Association of Black Journalists. Her coverage includes hard news and features on a wide variety of subjects including the White House, gun control, race, domestic policy, and social issues, with highlights including award-winning eyewitness coverage of the Sept. 11 terror attacks in New York, President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaign and inauguration, and President Trump’s policies including immigration and his Supreme Court nominees. Each episode features a “Kaleidoscope with Allison Keyes” segment that takes on social justice issues and critical topics like race, gender, disability, income inequality, and beyond. Keyes has extensive experience in television and radio at the network, local, and cable level, having written and produced segments for ABC News shows “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight,” and worked as a segment and field producer for TV One’s “News One Now with Roland Martin”.
