Civil rights attorney & GA State Senate candidate Rahul Garabdu joined the Ron Show Thursday, April 30th.
In the immediate aftermath of the Supreme Court’s MAGA 6-3 majority dealing what may be the final death blow to the 1965 Voting Rights’ Act, civil rights attorney and Georgia state Senate candidate Rahul Garabadu joined me Thursday to discuss the reality of a newfound race to gerrymander with reckless abandon to eliminate black voting power & representation; oh and to discuss is candidacy in a hotly contested state Senate district that a Democrat will win. The question is: which one?
– – –
Hear me out: what if the political violence we ALL abhor is all that MAGA and the GOP leaves their political opposition? We’re not there, yet, but as the race to gerrymander (already before the SCOTUS ruling and then again after), along with the many and varied ways the SAVE Act seeks to suppress voter participation further, is it not enraging that a nation with a razor-thin liberal majority electorate is ruled by a party they rarely vote in favor for and with a 2/3rds majority conservative high court? Take away the options to right that course, and what is the left left with?
Conservative pundit Erick Erickson is no stranger to threats of violence on him and his family – from MAGA – but piously believes progressives need to “take a look in the mirror” on its rhetorical choices. The problem is he can’t name a leftwing political leader that fans those flames.
He also finger-wags at conspiracy theorists dismissing the White House correspondents’ dinner near-attempt as some MAGA conspiracy. I’m not there yet, myself, but there are some curious issues with the whole setup, as Leigh McGowan, aka “Politics Girl,” points out.
