Georgia launches new ag resource center in Albany to boost farm businesses

State and local leaders officially launched the Georgia Grown Resource Center in Albany on Thursday.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper, Albany Mayor Bo Dorough, and Jana Dyke, president and CEO and Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission attended the event to celebrate the grand opening, according to a news release. Harper gave remarks.

The center is the second of nine planned across the state with the goal of strengthening the agricultural community in Georgia.

The goal is to connect producers, processors, agritourism operators, food manufacturers, and other agriculture-related businesses as well as provide valuable resources to support long-term growth, expand market access, and increase visibility.

Another resource center was already established in Metter, and the state has hosted statewide events such as the Georgia Seafood Summit.

Georgia Grown is part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture and works to support agribusinesses in the state.
