Henchman & Flunkies vs Hope & Progress
Georgia’s groundhogs are having a disagreement this year regarding the end of winter.
Gen. Beauregard “Beau” Lee emerged from his home at Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson and saw his shadow, indicating six more weeks of winter.
At the ceremony to announce Gen. Beauregard “Beau” Lee’s prediction Monday, the crowd was audibly disappointed with his forecast.
But, North Georgia Wildlife Park’s groundhog, Yonah, did not see his shadow, which indicates an early spring.
This is the second year Gen. Beauregard Lee has seen his shadow. The groundhog has been making predictions for Georgia since 1991 marking today at his 45th prediction. The groundhog is named after Civil War generals Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard.
Yonah is less experienced, making his first prediction in 2014.
