The Obama comedic effect, the Audi argument & Keisha’s closing pitch

todayNovember 2, 2026

Background

President Barack Obama can still draw a (packed arena) crowd, as he did in the closing days of the midterm cycle in Morrow, just south of Atlanta.

What may actually work best in his speeches, these days, is his comedic quips. Naturally, the “Cheesecake Factory” line from the weekend prior had folks chuckling days later, but his noting what did (and didn’t) upset Trump was pretty funny, too.

Still, these closing rallies are meant to stir up enthusiasm for the gubernatorial campaign of former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (oh and Senator Jon Ossoff’s seemingly certain re-election bid), so I’ll air all of Keisha’s time on the stage that day, with apologies to the former President.

There’s new polling from State Navigate to look at, too. Y’all know I love poll-diving.

Oh, and there’s a footnote about the lats Trump visit where he sprung the news on the new Audi facility coming to Georgia: all the work that went into luring that pre-dates him, though he certainly wants the credit. Brian Kemp would like a word.
