The Politics Bar recreates the warmth and camaraderie of the old neighborhood bar—a place where you could come after work to talk with friends and neighbors about the news of the day, have a few laughs, and even discuss politics without causing a brawl. In today’s world where personal communities are spread coast to coast, hosts Jody Hamilton and Shawn “Smith” Peirce have created a place where the bartenders know your name and you can trust the folks in your community will be there with the latest news and a drink or two. The show airs weeknights on progressive radio affiliates across the country and is available on-demand through podcast platforms and Substack.
Jody Hamilton is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning media producer, actress, and radio host who’s proven herself over and over for more than a quarter century—from producing “The Carol Burnett: Show Stoppers” and the award-winning “The Porkchop Playhouse” to her “From The Bunker” podcast and her time as executive producer and fill-in host of “The Stephanie Miller Show”. Co-host Shawn “Smith” Peirce brings a uniquely balanced perspective as one of the few producers in U.S. political media who’s worked on the left, right, and center—spending more than a decade as assistant and executive producer for “The Randi Rhodes Show” and producing “The Stephanie Miller Show,” “The Bill Press Show,” “The Laura Ingraham Radio Show,” and “The Steele & Ungar Show” for SiriusXM. He’s also been published in The Daily Beast and CJR, and he’s known for being direct and telling folks the truth—especially people in power—whether they like it or not. Together, Jody’s positive voice and unique viewpoint paired with Shawn’s straight-shooting style create a space where audiences can catch up on the day’s political news while smiling and laughing.
Ron Roberts is a Georgia-born radio veteran and host of The Ron Show, Atlanta's only progressive audio platform airing weekdays on AmericaOne Radio. With an extensive background as an FM radio program director and broadcaster skilled in audio editing, voice acting, and commercials, Ron brings nearly three decades of radio experience to his show. The show covers Atlanta, metro Atlanta, Georgia, and national politics from a unique perspective—he's a self-described "run-of-the-mill Georgia-born gay progressive cat-dad realtor & talk show host". Ron frequently welcomes guests ranging from local activists to prominent national figures, including Marianne Williamson, Rep. Nikema Williams, actor Michael Kelly, and Sen. Shea Roberts.
