She lives in Alpharetta with her husband and five children.

Caroline Welles is the founder and executive director of The First Ask, a national political organization dedicated to electing first-time Democratic women to state legislatures. Since its 2023 inception, The First Ask has become a recognized force in down-ballot politics, supporting candidates across seven states with a 100% win rate in 2024 and 2025. Under Caroline’s leadership, the organization raised over $600,000 in grassroots contributions in its first year — with an average donation of just over $20 — establishing a new model for early-stage political investment in women candidates. Prior to founding The First Ask, Caroline served as a Presidential Appointee during the Biden Administration and spent seven years at the Democratic National Committee, where she observed firsthand the systemic barriers that keep women out of political leadership.Headshot of Caroline
