The 'Georgia Diagnosis' - some bipartisan, some hyper-partisan: the Docter (Au) is in
If you missed the annual King Celebration Concert, Georgia organizations and communities will host several other events to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., including several events at the King Center and National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
The King Celebration Concert 2026 featured conductors Jonathan Taylor Rush, Norman McKenzie and Patrice Turner as well as other guest vocalists and speakers, such as Sen. Raphael Warnock. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra partnered with Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta for the event. The concert is available to stream at aso.org.
Dr. Patrice Turner is the director of worship and the arts at Ebenezer, and she told Georgia Public Broadcasting that the music at the concert promotes King’s enduring message of peace.
“If we want to move the needle forward, if we want to embrace the theology and the framework that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. laid out for us, influenced by Gandhi and Howard Thurman and Elijah Mays and other thinkers, then we have to center ourselves on the love that is within us,” she said.
Several events are happening across the state this weekend. Here are some highlights.
