Georgia breaks midterm early voting record ahead of final day at the polls

Early, in-person voting ends today, Friday, Oct. 30, and Georgia has already surpassed its record for voting in a midterm election.

By Thursday at 1:35 p.m., 2,294,275 Georgians had voted early, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.

In 2022, 2,289,951 people voted during the entire period of early, in-person voting.

“Georgians continue to head to the polls in record numbers because they trust the system,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in the news release. “This record-breaking in-person early voting turnout wouldn’t be possible without our county elections officials who work every day to ensure our elections are free, fair, and fast.”

Overall turnout as a percent of active voters is still on par with overall turnout in 2022.

More than 100,000 absentee ballots had also been accepted by that time on Thursday.

Today will be the last day to vote early in the 2026 midterm elections. After polls close today, Georgia voters will need to cast their ballots on Election Day, Nov. 3, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Polling locations and directions can be found at mvp.sos.ga.gov.
