Kemp extends State of Emergency, waives penalties on dyed diesel

Gov. Brian Kemp announced Tuesday that he has amended the State of Emergency Order issued last week to include waiving penalties for the use of off-road “dyed” diesel.

This addition was made to the order that suspended the state motor fuel excise tax for 30 days.

No state penalties will be incurred during the State of Emergency for selling, delivering, or using dyed fuel oil for on-road vehicle use in an attempt to offer further relief to truckers and farmers.

The State of Emergency has also been extended through Nov. 5.

“With our farmers and truckers under heavy pressure, we’re leaving no stone unturned when it comes to giving them relief, along with the hardworking Georgians who rely on the goods they produce and deliver,” Kemp said in the news release. “I’m thankful for the support of our partners in the legislature on these measures as we continue to put Georgia workers and families first.”

As of Thursday, AAA reports that the average gallon of gas in Georgia was $3.85, and the average gallon of diesel was $5.78.
