Voting by mail will remain available for Georgia voters for the 2026 midterm elections after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked an effort to restrict the practice.
Georgia election officials still say voters should pay close attention to the rules surrounding mail-in voting to ensure their vote counts.
The Georgia Recorder reports that nothing has changed with the process of absentee voting for the upcoming elections.
Absentee ballots are available to all registered voters in Georgia, and voters do not have to provide an excuse to request an absentee ballot.
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming elections is Oct. 5, and the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 23.
Registered voters can request a ballot online, by email, by mail, by fax and even in person at your County Board of Registrar’s Office.
Once you receive your ballot, fill out and sign the ballot and return it to your county registrar before polls close on Election Day. Military and overseas voters need to make sure the ballot arrives within three days of Election Day.
Voters can verify their ballot was received and accepted on their Georgia My Voter Page.
